SEVERE WEATHER EMERGENCY PROTOCOL

DURHAM WEATHER

During a period of severe weather, Durham County Council has a Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) in place.  This protocol ensures that anyone at risk of rough sleeping, regardless of their priority need under s189 of the Housing Act 1996, and their entitlement to temporary accommodation, will be offered temporary accommodation and ongoing advice and support to secure a suitable accommodation option.

Should the predicted minimum night time temperature drop below one degrees Celsius for three consecutive nights or more, then the Durham County Council's Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) will be initiated. The Predicted Minimum Night Time Temperatures for Durham are the smaller figures below the day time predicted temperatures in the display above.

The authorative figures from the Met Office can be seen by cliking on the link below. The Predicted Minimum Night Time Temperatures for Durham are the smaller figures next to the day time predicted temperatures.

Should the criteria for a SWEP be met or be close to being met, then please go to the SWEP page for more information: SWEP Page
